Q: Why do I need to create a “login” to vote?
A: This year we are requiring voters to create a “login” in order to vote for their favorite pictures for two reasons:
- A login voting system lets everyone have the option to vote. You don’t have to have a social media account, the votes aren’t limited to one per IP address (so college dorms and offices aren’t limited).
- A login voting system helps prevent fraud.
Q: What information do I need to provide to create a login?
A: You will need to create a username and password as well as provide your name and email.
Q: Will my information be sold?
A: We will NEVER sell your information. You may get 1-2 emails a year about missions if you provide your information. All emails will have an opt out button.
Q: How will my photo be used?
A: Any person submitting a photo into the contest will accept the rules and conditions of the photo contest. Within the rules and conditions, you are giving Insurance Consultants International, MissionTripInsurance.com and MyMissionTrip.com permission to post and/or print your picture on our websites and social media outlets to promote missions and the “Captured in HIS Image” Photo Contest.
Q: Is the “Captured in HIS Image” Photo Contest a popularity contest?
A: This is a fun contest and a way to earn money towards your next mission trip. This is not a contest to judge the talent and skills of the photographer. Many of our winning photos are beautifully shot, but we have found that the winners were diligent in promoting their photo on social media outlets and sharing with their family and friends. We encourage all voters to vote for more than one photo that really speaks to them!
Q: Can I still win if I’m an independent missionary overseas?
A: Yes, you can still win but keep in mind that due to IRS regulations we will need to send the prize money to an organization or church here in the US. If you have a church or organization in the US that can sponsor you, then we can send a check to them with your name on it for your mission’s account.
Q: I won’t be going on another trip next year. Can I gift the money?
A: Yes, as a winner you will receive a “winner’s packet” with a certificate and form for the church or organization to fill out. We require every winner to have this filled out and to send it with your mission trip details. If you cannot go, you can gift the money to someone who will be going on a mission trip and they will need to fill out the forms and have the church or organization do the same.
Q: I just submitted a photo into the contest but I don’t see it in the gallery.
A: All photos submitted will be reviewed by the staff of MissionTripInsurance.com to make sure they are appropriate. Please allow 24 hours for your photo to post to the gallery. All photos will be posted before voting begins.
Q: Will my full name be listed on my photo entry?
A: NO, we will only use your first name and the first initial of your last name. Example: Kristen B.
Q: Can I use a photo from a mission trip I took 2 years ago?
A: Yes! You can submit a photo from any mission trip that you have taken. You must have the rights and permissions to the photo.
Q: Will a third party have access to my photo?
A: Some photo contests are run through a third party application, but our contest is hosted on mymissiontrip.com and no other third party application will have access to your photo.
